Freedom or the lack of has always been important in America today and in American history. My definition of freedom is the right and ability to do or say what you want, within reason. There should be laws to stop people from doing or saying something that will harm others, but these laws must treat everyone as equals. And freedom means not being enslaved to someone else. Freedom is the right to go out and make your own choices. America has been shaped not only by freedom itself, but also the lack of freedom that some people did not get to experience. My first example is what freedom meant to the colonies after the Revolutionary War. It meant they weren’t controlled by the British government anymore. They no longer had to listen or follow their rules. They were free to make their own decisions. They were able to form their own government and set their own rules. For the colonies, they decided that the best way was by public voting. That way there wasn’t an anarchy like they had in Britain. The American people could elected whoever they wanted. Dreamworld is a popular theme park in Australia, which is situated on the Gold Coast in Queensland. This park consists of Zoo. This land has a vast collection of animal exhibits, show, rides, and food shop (Dreamworld.com.au, 2018). One of the major disasters of Dreamworld is the death of the people during the visit of such park. Two women and two men were killed on the Thunder river rapid ride in this park. However, such organization was not able to establish an effective communication with the family of the died people. However, Dreamworld focuses on the social media application to establish a good customer relationship but in this particular situation, they failed to communicate with the stakeholders. Comparison of each communication in the context of Dreamworld and Woolworths Woolworths focuses both verbal and non-verbal communication process in their business to provide an excellent customer service. One of the major challenges that Woolworths has been faced is the high cost of different telephony platforms. However, different agents of Woolworths are present in different countries then it was difficult for them to link each agent and make an effective customer service through different telephony platforms. In order to reduce such problem, they have established a single contact centre by the implementation of cloud contact centre platform (Woolworthsgroup.com.au, 2018). Cloud contact centre is referred to the central point of an organization. This is based on the internet server through which the entire inbound and outbound customer communications are managed (Jasper, VanVleet Hushka, 2015). Voice call, social media application and email are the major components of the cloud communication centre. This clod contact centre helps Woolworths to blend the br and and the agents and the executives do not require to swap between the chat vice and email to display the customer information. However, this professional communication system was crucial for Woolworths to rectify their problem. The death of the people during the riding in Dreamworld was a big incident, which affects the organization. However, the communication between the staffs and the supervisor is not good in this organization and many staffs, as well as the customers, are treated badly. They feel uncomfortable while acquiring the service. During this incident, Dreamworld was failed to manage the public relationship or PR due to their poor communication strategy (Abc.net.au, 2018). They have used the indirect communication with the family members of died people through the press conference and the social media sites. They did not make any direct communication with them. In the recent years, the social media is a popular aspect to build a good public relation in the context of any organization (Breakenridge, 2017). However, Dreamworld has given a sub-standard communication response to the family members of died people. They have shown response via social media by taking 3 hours while it could be done with in 30 minutes. As per the analysis of the business communication in the context of Woolworths and Dreamworld it has been received that Woolworths has taken direct communication process to satisfy their stakeholders. On the other hand, Dreamworld has taken indirect communication process, which was not effective to reduce their current problem. Direct communication by using a single contact centre Woolworths was able to reduce the communication gap between the internal and the stakeholders while indirect communication and late response via social media affected the image of Dreamworld. Types of communication that worked and which did not work Direct communication works quickly in comparison to the indirect communication (Passera, Kankaanranta Louhiala-Salminen, 2017). However, in order to get a quick response, it is crucial for all organizations to make a direct communication with their external and internal stakeholders as this helps to collect the feedback from the stakeholders. In the context of Woolworths that have faced the issue due to different telephony platforms. This creates huge cost and makes the communication process complicated. Hence, Woolworths has applied a single centreed communication by using the cloud contact centre platform. This consists of social media, email and voice call, which are used to make a direct communication with the stakeholders. This direct communication process via cloud contact centre has worked properly in the context of Woolworths. On the other hand, Dreamworld gave their focus on the press conference to deliver their message to the victims family. This highlights the indirect co mmunication process in the business. On the other hand, they used the social media to communicate with the stakeholders, however; the response was not received quickly as they had taken more time to show the response. Thus, their direct communication did not work in this situation. Hence, this was a major drawback of Dreamworld in their professional business communication process. However, they had used both direct and indirect communication approaches but these did not work properly. It is important for a business to assist the stakeholders those are affected by the business (Ulmer, Sellnow Seeger, 2017). For this purpose, proper business communication is required. Woolworths was successful by the application of the cloud centre approach as it allows the agents to display the full history of the customers without making any swap between the email, voice and chat system. On the other hand, for Dreamworld they did not utilize the direct communication via using the social media due to their late response. Therefore, they had used a press conference to communicate with the victim's family but this failed to provide the satisfactory result, as the victim's family wanted direct communication. As a result, Dreamworld failed to manage the public relationship in their business by using both direct and indirect communication. Impact of the communication on these two businesses Business communication is a process to share the vision, mission, and objectives of a business with the stakeholders. Therefore, another aim of the professional business communication is to provide assistance to the stakeholders to give them any solution regarding the service (Patterson, 2016). In the context of business, their cloud contact center enhanced their business as they are able to reduce the high cost of the different telephony platforms. Therefore, cloud contact has provided a better customer experience and the employee empowerment. On the other hand, agent efficiency is optimized by the cloud contact centre in the business of Woolworths. Therefore, cloud contact centre is associated with the improvement of the flexibility and scalability. However, it is not possible for a business to communicate with the customers within proper time without having any functional contact centre (Fearn-Banks, 2016). Hence, cloud contact centre provides Woolworths a dynamic communication wi th their customers as well as it improves the customer-relationship by using mail, voice call, and social media application. It is important for an organization to utilize their communication technique by using it properly (McChesney, 2015). In the context of Dreamworld, they failed to communicate with the stakeholders as well as the victim's family. However, they did not use the direct call or direct communication with the victim's family, which had left a negative impact on their public relationship management. Their brand image has affected due to their poor communication. On the other hand, customer loyalty has broken in the context of this business. They have delivered their messages via press conference, which affected the trust of the consumers. As a result, this organization failed to manage the customer relationship in their business. Such poor communication damaged the business of Dreamworld. Conclusion The entire piece of work highlights the effective communication process in the context of Woolworths and poor business communication in the context of Dreamworld. However, application of the cloud contact centre was an effective approach of such organization to enhance the customer relationship in their business. On the other hand, Dreamworld failed to manage the public relationship as they were not able to make a direct communication with the public. This affects their brand image as well business growth. Osmosis (Its A Bit Poo) Plan In my experiment, I plan to find out whether the concentration of sugar in water affects how much water will go in to a potato chip. I will do this by having twelve test tubes three with one molar of sugar solution, three with ? molar sugar solution, three with ? molar sugar solution and three with zero molar sugar solution. I will do three of each so I can take an average from the results. Prediction For the investigation I think that the lower the concentration of sugar in the test tube the larger mass the potato chip will be. I think this because I know that Osmosis is the movement of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from an area of high water concentration to an area of low water concentration. Therefore the water molecules pass from a high concentration (in the water itself) to a low concentration (in the potato chip). Therefore, the chips in higher water concentrations will have a larger mass than in higher sugar concentrations. Diagram For Prediction This is a diagram for what I predict will happen in the experiment. If the potato is in one Molar solution then the increase in mass due to osmosis will be little, as there is more sugar than water in the solution. If it is in 0.5 Molar solution, it should increase a little. If it is in pure water then the increase will be quite a lot, as there are many water molecules in water, therefore due to osmosis its mass will increase more that the other two experiments. Fair Test In the investigation, I will make it a fair test by keeping the following things the same: 1. Volume of solution ? 20ml 2. Same size boiling tube 3. Same type of potato 4. Temperature ? Room Temperature 5. Same sugar solution 6. Same size potato borer 7. Time left for ? 48hrs 8. Size of potato chip ? 20mm For all of these criteria, having them not uniform in all of the tests would mean it would not be a fair test. For instance if I had a longer potato the surface area would be bigger and there would be more space for osmosis to occur. Apparatus To do this test I will need ? 1. Twelve test tubes 2. Sugar solution 3. Water 4. Twelve potato chips 5. Size 5 borer 6. Ruler 7. Two test tube racks 8. A Knife Diagram These are diagrams of how the apparatus is used. This first one is about boring the holes in the potato This one is the potato chip in the water solution. Method 1. Take about two or three potatoes and bore twelve potato cylinders out of them using borer size 5. 2. Cut the potato cylinders to 20mm, then set aside. 3. Collect twelve test tubes and put in test tube racks. 4. Measure 20, 10 and 15ml of water three times (3 x 20, 3 x 10 and 3 x 15ml water) then 5. Measure 20, 10 and 5ml of sugar solution three times (3 x 20 3 x 10 and 3 x 5ml sugar solution) 6. Mix these in this order, 20ml water in three test tubes. Three test tubes of 10ml water + 10ml sugar solution. Three test tubes of 15ml water and 5ml sugar solution. Finally three test tubes of 20ml sugar solution. 7. Attempt to put all potato chips in at the same time. 8. Leave for 48hrs. 9. Come back in 48hrs time and take all the potato chips out of the test tubes. 10. Roll them carefully on paper towels or other absorbent material to remove excess water. 11. Weigh each chip individually and record the measurement. The Gift of a Wedding Roast

The Gift of a Wedding Roast This weekend I went to Massachusetts for the wedding of a dear friend of mine.   It was the only wedding ceremony I’ve ever been to where I laughed until I cried for part of it, and simply cried for the rest.   I was deeply moved by the love between this couple, and by the sentiments of their close friends and family who were given an opportunity to share during the ceremony. Between traveling and spending time with friends, I did not have much of an opportunity to craft a blog article.   I did, however, write something very important:   a rhyming wedding toast/roast.   I thought I would share it with you, if nothing else as an example of how to tell a story in a short space.   As you read, pay attention to what details are shared, what is left to the imagination, and how connections are drawn between earlier and later couplets. I acknowledge my father, who is no longer with us in body, but who inspired me by his example to write poems such as these.   Here’s the toast/roast, a bit about what transpired from sharing it, and a few things you might learn from my experience. Wedding Toast/Roast – September 25, 2011 At DNE Camp, a story began Of Leslie (our bride) and Gary (our man). They met at a table across from each other, (Leslie freed up from her duties as mother) And gazed, and gazed, and gazed some more. Then brought their flirtations onTO the dance floor. They danced, and they talked†¦Ã‚   for hours they flirted†¦ This bond that they had just could not be averted. But no matter how well she and Gary were matched, Leslie preferred to stay unattached. This line gave the couple a fairly fine start: â€Å"You CAN have my body but NEVER my heart.† But Gary was sure there was still more to gain. They rendezvoused once on a Turnpike in Maine And yes, since that meeting 15 years ago, A lot has transpired†¦Ã‚   as many here know. There were moves, there were moods, there were protests and OH There were bondings with dogs – the world’s cutest, you know. A year’s separation, and a new job for Gary, All served to bring forth the real chance they would marry. An engagement took shape, and a life more entwined. It seems that for union this pair was designed. And I hear Bucket’s heart shouting â€Å"Never say never!† ‘Cause Gary’s sure got it†¦Ã‚   forever. [Note:   Bucket is Garys nickname for Leslie; capitalized letters indicate emphasis] Unexpected Results I read this poem to a crowd of 125 wedding guests, and had a lot of people ask me about what I do for a living.   One long-time acquaintance asked me if I wrote the poem myself, surprised to find out that I was a writer!   I had the opportunity to share about my resume writing, jokingly telling one of the wedding guests that I write rhyming resumes. I let people know about my more creative resumes, including one that was nominated for a TORI Award in the Best Creative Resume Category.   One wedding guest asked for my card, telling me she was interested in hiring me to help both her and her husband with their resumes.   Another guest has a daughter applying to college, and was thrilled to meet an â€Å"Essay Expert† who offers help with personal statements for college! The Gift of Creative Expression I wrote this wedding poem because I love my friend Gary and had a TON of fun writing and reading it.   Not once did it cross my mind that the poem would lead to business.   Yet that’s exactly what it did.   The experience reminds me that by being yourself, by giving, and by sharing who you are with others, you can obtain unexpected results. Whether you are a business person or a job seeker, keep putting yourself out there and giving your gifts.   If you have a story to tell, tell it.   You never know who might be listening. The foundation of absolutism was the theory of the divine right of kings. This theory maintained that the monarch was God's representative on earth. In reality absolutism was a closer working relationship with the nobles in order to maintain control. Ensuring the power of the nobles meant solidifying his authority. The bureaucracy began to reorganize, making it more effective on the local level. Local and national government began to meet on a regular basis. This was done by dividing the monarchy into ten units, then dividing it further into ten subdistricts. Kreishauptmann were the administrative heads of each district, appointed by the King to work at the local level. All this helped to extend the monarch's power to the far reaches of the domain. To the people this basically meant that not only was the king a supreme ruler but he could emphasize his will with armies of unmatched size giving the idea of absolutism an illustration and an authenticity never seen before. With this need for a standing army came the need for new funds. These new funds gave way to a new system of tax collection. Throughout history the war and taxes have gone hand in hand. The goal of every monarch was to have independent power and only economic independence could make that possible.
